Ain’t nobody got time for pulverizing hazelnuts, on a quest for the holy grail of Nutella. But if you crave something slightly sweet, rich and cocoa-y in the morning, this chocolate toast spread is for you my friend.

I’ve tried, with some success, to eat healthier breakfasts, but I can never get away from a desire for something delicately sweet with my coffee (black). So rather than fight the battle with my craving, or the other battle with a 6 year-old who wants Nutella, I created a delightful chocolate spread of my own that I could feel better about liberally slathering on toast.

It’s five simple ingredients, no equipment. This recipe makes the perfect amount for a week of breakfasts, and the little jar will sit happily on your counter.

If you want to amp up the “health” factor, choose a sprouted grain bread like the Ezekiel 4:9 bread.

Lately I’ve had more time to enjoy my coffee while it’s hot, because I’ve been doing all my grocery shopping from home. Walmart Grocery Delivery is my new best friend. They have a wide selection of brands and products, including organic options, and there is no item mark-up. I started out doing grocery pick up, but when I realized I could get an entire year of free delivery for $94, I was sold. That’s $1.80 per delivery, if you only order groceries once a week. I usually do two smaller orders a week, so that means I’m only paying 0.90 cents per delivery! #worthit

The app makes it easy to search, favorite, and reorder. I usually find a promo code every couple of months too, for an additional $10 off an order. Your not limited to food either! Most of the home and office supplies are available for delivery too. Back to school supply shopping made easy.

Their return policy is incredible -> Keep the item you didn’t like and get refunded anyway! Best customer service ever.

Experience this modern magic, and you will never look back. Oh and make this chocolate toast spread too. You, and whatever children are lurking near your kitchen, will smile. And with grocery delivery, you might get to breathe for a moment and enjoy a mini facial from the steam wafting off your hot coffee.

Use my referral link for $10 off your first Walmart grocery order, and you’ll be supporting more recipe testing in the Read Cook Devour kitchen. Thanks!

Recipe Notes

Depending on the thickness/dryness of your almond butter, you may need to add more coconut oil if your spread is too thick.

If your almond butter is very oily, you can add a little more cocoa powder.
